The 450km of the nature-based recreational trail stretches along the waterways of the Murray River, Lakes and Coorong region. The region is a gentle 45-minute drive from Adelaide, an spans across diverse landscapes.
Stretching from up near Swan Reach, where the river features the magnificent lurching limestone cliffs, the Murray River, Lakes and Coorong region continues south, to Lake's Albert and Alexandrina, as they open up to the Coorong National Park. Whether you're visiting the region to walk or ride, the Murray River, Lakes and Coorong is a mecca for eco-tourism and recreation, so make sure you plan a few extra days to explore!

Things to see and do
There are plenty of experiences off the trail to add to your visit in region. With an extensive road network, the Murray River, Lakes and Coorong is an ideal region for town-hopping, allow visitors to sightsee and enjoy a range of experiences.
Visitors can see the region from the water on one of the many river experiences available. If you have a car, take in the vast scenery while enjoying one of our driving itineraries like the Mighty Murray Way. The region is also home to some of Australia's significant outdoor experiences including the River Murray International Dark Sky Reserve and the Coorong National Park.
With such beautiful and varied scenery to explore, the Murray River, Lakes and Coorong offers many other opportunities to walk, hike, mountain bike, or canoe too! Be sure to check in with Visitor Information Centres in the regions major townships to find out what the most popular adventures are.
Recreational entertainment and sporting adventures are another favourite for the whole family in the region. Whether it's visiting the Monarto Safari Park, go karting at The Bend Motorsport Park or hiring a bike in Mannum.
